PMRA has recently relased a consultation document putting forward a plan to protect bees from exposure to neonicotinoid pesticides. This report states "PMRA has determined that current agriculture pratices related to the use of neonicotinoid treated corn and soybean seed are affecting the environment due to their impacts on bees and other pollinators..." The PMRA needs to hear from you! Press here to send an email asking for a ban for these harmful chemicals. Here's a sample email you can cut and paste into it:
The Ontario Beekeepers’ Association is working hard to protect our bees from the impact of neonicotinoid pesticides, diseases and habitat loss and to support bee-positive public policies, but we need your help. The OBA BeeCause Advocacy Fund is a way for you to support the pro-active work of the OBA. Funds will be used to strengthen our communications and outreach to government, industry and the general public.
You can help by signing the petition, donating to OBA BeeCause, buying a t-shirt or sharing our brochure on the importance of pollination.
If you would like to bring a paper copy of the petition to an event or even just to circulate to friends and neighbours, you can download a copy here. Mail or fax signatures to the OBA office at 8560 Tremaine Road, Box 476, Milton L9T 4Z1 or fax: 905-636-0662
Do it today. There’s no time to waste.
