Ontario Beekeepers’ Association Technology Transfer Program (TTP) is seeking to hire a technician for a 6-12 month contract. We are a research group based out of Guelph, Ontario.
Work will include tending directly to honey bee colonies, processing samples in the lab, and assisting in the completion of ongoing research projects.
Applicants must have an interest in agriculture and be willing to work outdoors, in direct contact with honey bees. Previous experience working with honey bees is an asset, but not required.
Some heavy lifting required. Successful applicant(s) will assist researchers in the preparation and conduction of research projects and field testing, as well as assist with beekeeping workshops. Activities will take place in the office, lab, and field. Duties include data collection and entry, maintenance and manipulation of honey bee colonies, preparation of equipment for data collection and attendance at workshops. Applicants must be willing to work individually and as part of a team. Out-of-town and overnight travel will occur, however.
