Antimicrobial Management for Beekeeping in Ontario

Under the new regulations set forth by the Health Canada, all antimicrobial use in agriculture is now controlled through a veterianarian prescription. This process will be new to the beekeeping industry, as antimicrobrial purchasing in the past has been over-the-counter. This workshop is designed to familiarize veterinarians with the pests and diseases that afflict honey bees in Ontario, which diseases require antimicrobial treatments, the timing of treatments, as well as other information pertaining to the maintenance of honey bee health.

Topics discussed will include: Beekeeping production aspects, Honey bee biology, American foulbrood & other honey bee pests and diseases, Seasonal management, Legislation, Educational resources, and more. An agenda can be found below.

Furthermore, upon completion of the workshop, participants will have their name/clinics listed on the OBA website for beekeepers to access.
