OBA is assisting Novometrix distribute a survey to assess bee health: find it here

OBA is assisting Novometrix Research Inc, the research group carrying out a beekeeper survey funded by OMAFRA, to distribute their survey.

All Ontario beekeepers who kept bees in 2014, are eligible and invited to take part in an important study, to help better understand the reasons for declining health and productivity of honey bees.

The high winter losses, and reports of acute bee die offs in recent years may be a symptom of a larger issue. By completing this questionnaire, you will help in identifying the true current state of bee health in Ontario, as well as the key factors which impact bee health.

The questionnaire is online, and should take 30-40 minutes of your time. Questions will include those on the health of your bees, as well as management practices used throughout the 2014 year. Your participation is voluntary and you may choose to remain anonymous, or opt-in to receive further communications from the research team. We hope you can set aside some time to participate before you return to your colonies this spring.

In appreciation for your support, every eligible beekeeper that completes this questionnaire will have a chance to win one of two $250 gift certificates (to the beekeeping supply store of your choice). In addition, the first 100 participants to complete this survey will also receive a $10 Tim Horton’s gift card!
