Ontario Beekeepers’ Association Honey Competition Rules – 2025

Hosted at the OBA Fall AGM – November 28–29, 2025

1. Purpose

The Ontario Beekeepers’ Association (OBA) Honey Competition celebrates excellence in Ontario honey  production. The competition encourages high standards of quality, craftsmanship, and presentation among Ontario beekeepers.

2. Eligibility

Open to all Ontario-based beekeepers. OBA members pay a reduced entry fee; non-members may enter at the standard rate. Entries must be 100% Ontario-produced and packaged honey.

3. Entry Fees

$10 administrative fee per entrant. $10 per entry for OBA members. $15 per entry for non-members. - Fees are non-refundable once entries are received.

4. Competition Classes

Liquid Honey – Golden Ontario floral source, light to medium golden tone.

Liquid Honey – Amber Ontario floral source, darker amber tone.

Liquid Honey – Dark Ontario floral source, dark tone.

Creamed Honey Smooth, spreadable texture, uniform crystallization.

Comb Honey Neatly cut, sealed comb of high quality.

Black Bottle Opaque jar – judged solely on taste and aroma.

5. Entry Requirements

- All entries must be unlabeled and free of identifying marks. Each entry requires **three (3) matching 500g glass jars**. - **Black Bottle Category:** requires **two (2) 500g opaque jars**, which may be taped on-site by volunteers. - Participants may ship entries ahead of time or drop them off at the AGM. - Entries must include the completed entry form and applicable fees.
